West Yorkshire's BRIT-Award winning singer-songwriter was born in 1991 in the eclectic surrounds of culture hotspot Hebden Bridge before he moved to London in 2008 to pursue his musical aspirations. He started off low-key with the release of his No. 5 Collaborations Project EP, although his early fans were hardly low-key - pop legend Elton John professed his admiration for the singer from early on.
Singles such as "The A Team" and "Lego House", from his first full-length album +, made him the fastest rising young male solo star in the UK. In 2013 he performed "The A Team" with Elton, then embarked on a tour with Taylor Swift to help his star profile raise in the US. His second album, X, made him interstellar, coming out in June 2014 smashing both the UK and US charts, also winning the British Album of the Year Award at the BRITs. With singles that include "Sing", "Don't", "Photograph" and "Thinking Out Loud", it's not difficult to imagine his rapid rise to success.
