The France National Football Team is one of the original founding teams of the world’s top international football championship, which it has twice won. The team made its debut at the inaugural event in 1930, playing its very first game against the Mexico National Soccer Team. Their first triumph on the world stage was at the 1984 Games, where they won gold. However, the world’s highest football honours were to elude the team for almost 70 years, however, until this drought was broken in 1998 at their home stadium of Stade de France. The French team beat the highly favoured Brazil National Soccer Team, putting three goals past the South American wizards with no comeback. Two of which were scored by one of the legends of French football, Zinedine Zidane.
While the next years were relatively quiet, France roared back to top form in 2018, becoming world champions when they defeated surprise finalists, the Croatia National Football Team with a 4-2 score line.
