Europa League Tickets
Europa League Shows European football might
It is the 'junior league' European club football tournament and its existence proves the huge continental and global success of its more famous sibling. The European Football League, barely a decade old, provides an opportunity for smaller clubs to show their mettle. Europa League tickets are available now for purchase or sale via StubHub.
The Short History of European Football League
This competition has been played since 1955, when it was known as the Inner-Cities Fair Cup with eleven European teams participating. This number then expanded to 64 teams by 1971 when the tourney was rebranded as the European Football league. The first match under the more modern format was contested between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur with the Spurs prevailing. During the 1990s, Italian clubs dominated the contest, with three different teams winning multiple titles. European Football League joins Champions, American League and Womens League as other football competitions. Over the next twenty years, the contest saw winners from various countries like England, Russia, Ukraine and Portugal among others, right up until the competition was once more rebranded to its current title in 2010. Sevilla FC has stamped its name on the trophy five different times including a hat-trick between 2014-2016 and is its most successful team, while Swedish side IFK Goteburg has won it twice. European Football League comes into its own
The 2009 season witnessed another expansion of the tournament to 48 teams in an effort to capitalise on its success and address the quantity of quality football clubs throughout Europe. FC Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine was the last winner of that edition after defeating Werder Bremen in Istanbul by a 2-1 score, while Atletico Madrid defeated Fulham by the same score under the current system in 2010 in extra time. Fans of European football are fortunate to have two successful and highly competitive tournaments to satiate their desire for football action. Changes to the format allow the winner and runner-up to automatically progress to the group stages of the Champions League, which is a very compelling incentive to qualify and go all the way. Henrik Larsson of Sweden is the competition's top scorer with 40 goals, and Atletico Madrid claimed the championship in 2018.
