Demi Lovato: from Barney to the big time
Growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the young starlet harnessed her musical passion by entering talent contests and performing at famous events such as the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day Half Time Show with country and western star LeAnn Rimes. At the age of 10, she became a regular on kids TV show Barney and Friends before guest starring in dramas such as Prison Break. Her Disney princess status soon made her a household name across America and, in 2008, she released her debut solo album Don't Forget, featuring collaborations with the Jonas Brothers.
The record paved the way for further albums, including Here We Go Again before she dealt with personal problems in 2010. She came out stronger after battling her demons, getting the words 'Stay Strong' tattooed on her wrists in homage to her supportive fan base before the release of her third album Unbroken. Now one of the most popular showbiz personalities in the US, Lovato has enjoyed soaring popularity as a judge on the US version of talent show The X Factor and continues to charm with her uplifting, effervescent pop rock hits such as "Heart Attack" and "Neon Lights" from x album Demi as well as the chart topping Frozen theme "Let It Go".
During the first half of 2017, Lovato teamed up with Cheat Codes on their hit track "No Promises" as well as Jax Jones for "Instruction", before releasing her own record "Tell Me You Love Me" (including single "Sorry Not Sorry") to critical acclaim. It was her highest-charting album in the UK at number five and hit number three in the US.
