Bon Jovi Biography
Bon Jovi have been 30 years at the top of their game. Originating in Sayreville, New Jersey in 1983, this at the time four-piece - frontman Jon, guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres and keyboardist David Bryan - experienced minor success with the release of their self-titled debut and its follow up, 7800° Fahrenheit. World recognition came third time lucky in 1986, however with the release of Slippery When Wet, which became an instant success that held the much coveted Number One spot in the US charts - a feat that aided the album being named the top selling album of 1987. In 1988, the band released their fourth album New Jersey, and topped it off with a nearly 17-month world tour that was so intense, the outcome was a very much needed hiatus that lasted two years. The group resumed their activity in 1992, and despite achieving thirteen US Top 40 hits between 1987 and 1995, it was their 2000 single “It’s My Life” that truly brought the quintet to a modern audience. Off the back of this restyling, both their 2007 album Lost Highway and their 2009 one The Circle hit the top spot of US Billboard chart, selling over 7 million records combined.
After thirty years in the game, there have been some changes in the members, Jon, Tico and David staying all the way through. After some members such as Dave Sabo, Alec John Such and Richie Sambora left the group, Phil X and Hugh McDonald were the other two members who completed the American quintet. Showing no signs of slowing down three decades into their career, they're still a must-see concert proposition.
