The Lumineers: chart-topping hitmakers
Originally comprising singer/guitarist Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites, The Lumineers first appeared on the scene in New York and New Jersey in 2005. After tiring of the East Coast, they opted to uproot the group to Denver, Colorado, where they recruited cellist Neyla Pekarek. It proved a smart move, as soon they'd signed a management deal after industry executives saw a video of their track "Ho Hey" on YouTube. Its sweet simplicity has gone on to form the basis of their entire career, helping them grow a monstrous online following.
A chart hit on both sides of the Atlantic, the song permeated all corners of the entertainment spectrum, soundtracking numerous TV shows and becoming one of the defining tracks of the summer of 2012. Proving the band are no one-hit wonders, their self-titled debut LP soared into the top 10 in both the UK and US, propelling them to even bigger stages, tours and festival slots.
In the years since, the trio have been nominated for two highly coveted Grammy Awards and, in 2016, they achieved the ultimate seal of approval when their sophomore album Cleopatra topped the charts in both the US and the UK.
