After returning for a series of reunion shows in 2011, rock and roll powerhouse The Darkness delighted fans with the news they will be releasing their fifth studio album Pinewood Smile in October 2017. Famed for hits "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" and "Love is Only a Feeling" the glam rock quartet are looking to take the charts by storm once again.
The band will back up the release of their new album with a huge UK tour throughout November and December, including dates in London, Glasgow and Manchester. They’ll also be calling at Birmingham, Leeds and Norwich along the way, meaning fans up and down the country will have the chance to see The Darkness tour.

The Darkness biography
Led by charismatic frontman Justin Hawkins, the group came together after the demise of synth-pop outfit Empire. Enlisting brother Dan on guitar, Frankie Poullain on bass and drummer Ed Graham, Hawkins looked to resurrect the glam rock sounds of the '70s, bringing it back into the charts for a modern generation. Donning an extravagant leotard and with a falsetto voice reminiscent of Freddie Mercury, Hawkins set tongues wagging in the industry, but it was only on the release of EP I Believe in a Thing Called Love that people really started to take notice, as the group won a competition to be the opening act for Deep Purple and Def Leppard.
Signed to Atlantic Records, the band released their debut album Permission to Land in 2003, promptly heading straight to the top of the UK charts and selling more than 1.5 million copies. That same year the band also released popular seasonal single "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)".
Split and reunion
After two years of touring the band released their second record in late 2005. One Way ticket to Hell and Back went platinum in the UK but, due to personal problems, Hawkins left the band the following year, leaving it on indefinite hiatus.
Regrouping in 2012, the band released "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us" and performed live at dates across the world, before dropping their third album Hot Cakes. Throughout the summer of that same year, The Darkness performed at several festivals including Isle of Wight and were the opening act for Lady Gaga's European tour. Now, five years on, they are working on a feature-length documentary and are coming back with an album that will, if their track record is anything to go by, be ahuge chart success.
