Buzzcocks - Punk Legends Announce 40th Anniversary Tour

Famous for defining the sound of the late '70s with their signature punk rock riffs, these legendary musicians tour the UK once again in October 2016 as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations. After releasing their last record, The Way in 2014 - a first in eight years - the Bolton boys will treat fans to an eclectic set-list of hits, from the iconic 'Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've' to the ever popular 'Harmony in my Head'. Buzzcocks Biography - The Way

These punk gods first came together as students at the University of Bolton after Howard Trafford posted a notice looking for musicians who shared a love for The Velvet Underground. Pete Shelley was the first to respond and with Steve Diggle also on board, they made their live debut in 1976, opening for the Sex Pistols. Among the first groups to establish their own independent record label, self-released EP Spiral Scratch came out in 1977 and proved a catalyst for the ground-breaking Manchester scene that arrived over the next decade. After signing to United Artists with a new line-up that saw Shelley take over vocal duties, racy debut single 'Orgasm Addict' showed a band ready to forge their own path - and that refusal to comply with industry standards quickly won the group a loyal following. 'Lipstick', 'What Do I Get' and 'Shot By Both Sides' followed a similar pattern and defined a trademark which incorporated catchy pop melodies, heavy punk guitar and tight rhythm sections.

Three incendiary albums arrived between 1978 and 1979 in Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension, but they disbanded in 1981 following Shelley's decision to pursue a solo career. After 1989 though, they came together for a number of standalone tours and albums with varying line-ups, with Flat-Pack Philosophy and The Way arriving in the last decade. As tribute to their influence on today's musicians, the band were invited to support the Courteeners in 2009, and reunited the original line-up in 2012 for a select number of performances. In 2016, Pete Shelley, Steve Diggle, Chris Remington and Danny Farrant celebrate 40 years in the industry, with a number of tour dates planned in the UK.
