Bill Bailey: one of Britain's most recognisable comedians

Hailing from Bath, Somerset, this hugely popular British comedian and all-round performer started out on the comedy circuit touring with fellow comedian Mark Lamarr before he honed his act, adopting his trademark musical parodies and quirky sense of humour. He gathered awardbnominations and traction on the comedy circuit before landing a show on the BBC in 1998 called Is It Bill Bailey?

He became a well-loved regular on panel shows such as Have I Got News For You? and Room 101 soon after, before co-starring in cult hit comedy Black Books as Bernard Black's bumbling but loveable assistant Manny. He was also a team captain on quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks and a regular guest on Stephen Fry's QI, while all the time continuing to tour with his own brand of comedy, most recently completing his Limboland tour in 2015/16.

Bailey was listed by the Observer newspaper as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy in 2003. In 2007 and again in 2010, he was voted the seventh greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups.
