Whilst growing up in Pennsylvania, this aspiring artist found her love for music at a young age and despite training as a classical ballerina she found her future on the stage, after performing some of her original material at venues in the local area. In 2001 she was signed by A&M Records, and colossal single 'A Thousand Miles' quickly saw her break into the mainstream, proving a huge hit all over the world, and going on to receive three Grammy Award nominations. Debut album Be Not Nobody followed suit, selling more than two million copies worldwide and spawning singles like 'Ordinary Day' and 'Pretty Baby'.
The singer's next two albums, Harmonium and Heroes & Thieves continued to feature her outstanding talents on the piano, whilst exploring different themes and displaying a determination to continue diversifying. Despite not finding the same commercial success as the first record, critics were impressed with the musician's outstanding songwriting ability and unique take on classic pop. Changing labels in 2011, she released her fourth studio album Rabbits on the Run - a dreamy and mystical record drawing upon the artist's personal experiences and producing popular singles like 'Carousel'. After enjoying successful tours across Europe and the US, she returned to the studio to work on Liberman in late 2015, which incorporated her usual low-key pop with a folk sound.
