Frances Biography - Debut Album Backs Early Promise
After completing her three years of study at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Sophie Frances Cooke signed with Capitol Records upon graduation. 2016 will see the release of her debut album after an overwhelmingly positive response to her first two EPs and a memorable cover version of Justin Bieber's 'What Do You Mean' in the BBC Live Lounge. Her distinctive vocal style has been likened to a mash-up between Ellie Goulding and Florence Welch, making her self-penned work truly sound her own. After completing the Communion New Faces Tour, a showcase for new musicians in the UK, she went on to support James Bay and Sam Smith in concert, finding a new audience for her highly emotive music.
Working with Disclosure's Howard Lawrence, tracks like 'Borrowed Time' move away from the piano-led melodies of 'Let It Out' and 'When It Comes To Us', favouring electronic beats instead. Despite this evolution, her voice remains the focal point, earning praise for its classic pop range and pureness of tone. Whilst we wait in anticipation for the release of more material, check out her upcoming tour dates and get Frances tickets on StubHub.
