Bringing guitar driven rock back to the top of the charts, London five-piece The Vaccines are one of modern music's best loved bands. After paving their way supporting some of the most iconic acts of last 50 years, they're fast approaching icon status themselves, with sold out shows across the country.
With a highly anticipated fourth album set for release in 2018, the band are busy working on new material, and have announced a run of 2018 UK shows (including a standout concert at London's Alexandra Palace) in April with tickets available right here at StubHub.
The Vaccines: teenage icons come of age
Eagle-eyed gig goers may recognise frontman Justin Young from his former life as solo act Jay Jay Pistolet. Having released only a handful of records, Young decided to call it quits in 2008, before enlisting friends Freddie Cowan, Arni Arnason and Pete Robertson in 2010 to form the current line-up.
Their rise to fame was rapid, with the band's first London show generating so much attention that they were graced with the presence of members of iconic groups Franz Ferdinand and Mumford & Sons. So anticipated was the gig that 200 unlucky fans had to be turned away as the venue reached capacity.
With 2011 seeing the release of their first LP What Did You Expect From... and having already generated hype from magazines, labels and tastemakers alike, it was no surprise that several of the album's singles, "Post-Break-Up Sex" and "If You Wanna" gained acclaim and landed in the UK top five. 2011 also saw the ensemble go from intimate venues to the renowned O2 Academy Brixton.
Immediately following on from their success, 2012 marked the release of their second studio album, Coming of Age, with the record out-performing their previous venture by hitting the number one spot in the album chart. In April 2017, The Vaccines played in Shanghai, China where they premiered three new songs; "Your Love Is My Favourite Band", "Surfing In The Sky" and "Rolling Stones" – with a new album set for release in 2018.
