West Ham United FC – from ironworks to premiership
“The Hammers” have one of the most loyal fan bases of all English clubs, which is saying a lot. The club started as an ironworks company team in 1895 and was known as Thames Ironworks until 1900. They have had a long and notoriously fierce rivalry with another original ironworks team from the same part of London, Millwall FC. The club has spent most of its modern-day existence in either the First Division, or the (now) Premier League of England, and West Ham won the FA Cup three times in the 20th century, since losing that first Wembley final to Bolton FC. They also hold the unusual distinction of being one of the few winners of the Football League War Cup, which replaced the FA Cup during WWII, and its academy has produced some of England’s most iconic footballers.
A regular stream of West Ham United FC match tickets
West Ham also holds a special place in the annals of English football, as both the 1966 world cup-winning captain Bobby Moore and hat trick-scorer Geoff Hurst played for the club at the time, forever immortalising themselves in team lore. The team also enjoys healthy rivalries with two other London football teams, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC – although, neither comes close to the one with Millwall. You can get your own West Ham United FC tickets on StubHub, and if you’re not a seasoned fan, remember to practise the club’s anthem, “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles”, so you can join in with team supporters on match day. You can also expect rousing versions of the old East End pub classic “Knees Up Mother Brown”. Existing club supporters can rely on us for your supply of tickets throughout the season, for both home and away games.
