Queens Park Rangers - historic West London club
West London side Queens Park Rangers have been a mainstay of the English football league since turning professional in the late 19th century. You can buy and sell Queens Park Rangers tickets for both home and away games on StubHub.
From Terry Venables to plastic pitches
Formed in 1886, Queens Park Rangers turned professional three years later and won their first major trophy, the Division 3 South title, in 1948. In 1967, the team became the first third-tier side to win the League Cup and a year later, gained promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history. Their golden period came in the early 1970s when they finished runners-up to Liverpool FC in the First Division with a side boasting seven internationals, including Stan Bowles, Phil Parkes and future England boss Terry Venables. The club reached the finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup during the 1980s, a period in which they became renowned for their home ground's plastic pitch, while in the 1990s, they finished fifth in the inaugural Premier League season under another former player, Gerry Francis. After a period of unrest on and off the field throughout the '00s, QPR enjoyed several seasons in the top flight during the following decade, also winning the Championship in 2011. The Loftus Road atmosphere
Following a relatively nomadic existence in their early years, QPR settled at Loftus Road in 1917 and have spent all but three of their subsequent seasons there since. Situated in Shepherd's Bush, the 18,500-capacity stadium has also served as the temporary home of Fulham FC and rugby union side London Wasps and has evn staged international matches and World Boxing Association bouts. The stadium, which abandoned its famous artificial pitch for a real one in 1988, truly comes alive when the side welcomes one of its many capital city rivals through the gates, with games against fellow West Londoners Fulham, Brentford and Chelsea FC perhaps the most hotly-contested. Alongside players with plenty of top-flight and international experience, the Queens Park Rangers squad also typically includes several talents who have emerged through its academy system, ensuring that fans get to enjoy a mixture of both experience and youth. If you haven't yet tasted the electric atmosphere of Loftus Road, then book your Queens Park Rangers tickets on StubHub.
