Enjoy exciting football fixtures at Carrow Road
The Carrow Road stadium was built in 1935 as a new home for Norwich City FC, whose existing ground, 'The Nest', had grown too small for the large crowds attending matches. Taking less than three months to build, the ground was opened with a match against West Ham United FC, which Norwich City won 4-3. At that time, the increased capacity of Carrow Road saw a new attendance record reached, a figure that was far surpassed in 1963 when Norwich City played Leicester City FC in front of a crowd of nearly 44,000 fans. Since the stadium has been converted to an all-seater, the highest attendance seen was on 2 April 2016, when 27,137 people watched Norwich City play Newcastle United, just around one hundred people short of the maximum capacity of Carrow Road. Over the course of the years the stadium has added floodlights, a mixed artificial and real grass pitch and an under-soil heating system, which allows play to continue even in the depths of winter. And outside the football season, you'll find a different sort of Carrow Road tickets, with festivals and concerts routinely packing out the stands.
Carrow Road hospitality goes the extra mile
No football match experience would be complete without plenty of refreshments, but few football grounds offer you the chance to actually sleep within earshot of the pitch. But, like the Marriott suite in Munich's Allianz Arena, the Carrow Road hotel (belonging to the Holiday Inn chain) offers some lucky guests the chance to sleep in rooms overlooking the pitch, while the outstanding catering throughout the club is largely managed by star chef Delia Smith. In keeping with its top quality facilities, international events such as U-21 and women's football matches have also been held at Carrow Road stadium, with the English women's football team having experienced both victory and defeat on the pitch. While fixtures at Carrow Road are about high quality sport, they also offer so much more than just a match: hospitality, history, and the chance to be at one with a crowd of loyal supporters. To cheer on Norwich FC or take in a one-off concert, you can buy or sell Carrow Road tickets on StubHub today.
