Ward Thomas Biography - The Nashville Sound, via Hampshire

These two sisters, Catherine and Lizzy, were born in Hampshire in 1994. They started performing at a young age: "We were only three when we gave our first public performance - interrupting a wedding to launch into a duet of 'Happy Birthday' - not exactly on the program," they explain. As they got older they fell in love with the music of Carrie Underwood, Johnny cash and Dixie Chicks and started writing their own songs in the country style. Later they met Nashville-based producers Bobby Blazier and Chris Rodriquez, recording with them in the US after finishing their GCSEs. Support from the likes of BBC Radio 2 followed and their debut album, From Where We Stand, was released last year to mass acclaim. "We write and sing about family, friends and the stories that make life real - true country music," they explain.
