With a name derived from the popular coming-of-age TV show, "The Wonder Years," the pop punk band of the same name was formed in 2005 in Philadelphia. Consisting of guitarists Casey Cavaliere and Matt Brasch, bassist Josh Martin, drummer Mike Kennedy, keyboarder Mikey Kelly and frontman and lead vocalist Dan "Soupy" Campbell, the band issued two split single EPs in their first year with the bands Emergency and I and Bangarang! Their first album, Get Stoked on It!, hit the market in 2007. A California record label called No Sleep was impressed by their sound and energetic stage show, and quickly signed them to a recording contract. Their first production for No Sleep was the EP Won't Be Pathetic Forever.

Although The Wonder Years entered the market after the popularity of pop punk bands had begun to wane, they persisted, growing their audience over the years. Their audience matches the bands energy in their cacophonous live shows, peppered with a three guitar attack, rapid lighting changes, little downtime between songs and smoke explosions punctuating the air. Despite the aggression and volume of the band and the crowd bouncing off each other, the atmosphere is positive, supportive and joyous.

The Wonder Years history

The Wonder Years is a classic Philadelphia suburban pop-punk band that began in the basement--their first practises were in the basement of Mike Kennedy's parent's house. Their first split EP was with the group Emergency and I, and was combined with several other songs and released as their first EP in 2005. Their second split EP, this time with the group Bangarang!, closely followed. It featured songs such as "Let's Moshercise!" and "My Geraldine Lies Over the Delaware."

Following the positive buzz of the EPs, the band was quickly signed to a record label in 2007. No Sleep Records released their debut album, Get Stoked on It!, in October of that year. It featured a number of songs from their initial EP releases. The following year, they dropped another EP, Won't Be Pathetic Forever. In 2009, following the trend of their early days, they released another split EP, this time with a pop punk band based in the UK called All or Nothing. Shortly after the release of the EP, Mikey Kelly left the group.

The Upsides, the band's second full album, arrived in record stores in January 2010. It appeared on several Billboard charts, debuting at No. 9 on the Top New Artist chart, No. 5 on the Alternative Artist chart, No. 43 on the Indie Label Album chart and No. 26 on the Top Internet Album chart. Shortly after the release of the album, the band informed the fans they had signed to Hopeless Records.

The first release for Hopeless Records was the album Suburbia I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing. The record company quickly released a series of singles including "Local Man Ruins Everything," "Don't Let Me Cave In" and "Coffee Eyes." The album hit Billboard's top 200 chart at No. 73 as soon as it was released.
