Rod Stewart Biography

Born in London in 1945, the "All For Love" singer began his musical career sifting through different musical genres and experimenting with different styles. As well as his most memorable roles in The Faces and the Jeff Beck Group, he also toured Europe with folk singer Wizz Jones, played the harmonica with R&B group Jimmy Powell & the Five and supported the Rolling Stones with blues outfit Steampacket.

Solo success soon followed with the arrival of his debut Every Picture Tells a Story and a golden age of bestselling albums. Despite experiencing a lull in the '80s, his American Songbook series brought about a resurgence in popularity, and the subsequent decision to produce original material resulted in the number one album Time - a first substantial songwriting effort in 25 years.
