Formed from the ashes of cult metallers Kyuss in 1995, QOTSA essentially acts as the musical vehicle for sole original member Josh Homme. Regularly drafting in the great and the good of the music world to work on his ventures – a revolving cast that's encompassed everyone from Elton John and Dave Grohl to Arctic Monkeys over the years – he's built his reputation on an innovative approach to collaboration. Putting out self-titled debut album in 1998, the band really started turning heads with the 2000 follow-up Rated R, which was promoted with key spots at festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds.
