One Republic - Sound of the Summer
Riding off the back of the well-deserved super-success of their single 'Counting Stars', the highest-charting tune of their career, Colorado rock outfit One Republic announced their Native Summer tour in early 2014. The tour's US leg has already surpassed the band's expectations; frontman Ryan Tedder has said that sell-out gigs have left them 'stupefied'. Old high school friends Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins formed One Republic after reuniting post-college and reigniting their dreams of fronting their own band. In the initial stages of their career, One Republic's success was largely propelled by social media platform MySpace, where the band became the number one unsigned act. Their MySpace fame couldn't fail to catch the attention of major music producers, including Timbaland, and they were signed to his Mosley Music Group in 2007.
Their first album, Dreaming Out Loud, was released in 2007 to mixed reviews, but the single 'Apologize' exploded internationally and immediately gave the band household-name status. They have since released two more albums, and have had several singles featured on hit TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars and Lost. The tour of their most recent album, Native, is sure to delight fans and One Republic newcomers.
