Neil Young Biography - Still Searching for A 'Heart of Gold'
This Canadian star began playing music during his school years, eventually performing in folk clubs and coffeehouses. He then moved to California in 1966 to follow his musical dreams, leading to the creation of his co-founded band Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills. The group went on to dominate the California folk scene, becoming one of the most popular and influential acts of the era. When the band broke up in 1968 due to tense relationships, Young went solo, releasing his self-titled debut in 1969, as well as Everybody Knows This is Nowhere with the band Crazy Horse.
The songwriter's solo efforts didn't achieve mainstream success until he joined the line-up of Crosby, Stills and Nash. The quartet's impressive vocal harmonies helped to establish the singer's name, making his country-tinged third solo album After the Goldrush achieve a boom of sales. The Grammy award winning folk rock supergroup was renamed after the addition of their latest member, and have since released a number of platinum selling albums. Throughout his long career this musician has been praised for his experimental style, consistently shifting musical genres between rockabilly, folk, blues and electronica.
