Even though Google has given birth to a know-it-all age, a one kind of live show still remains that astounds audiences with wild displays of mystery that no one may ever understand: the magic show. The days of old tricks that involve dropping a deck of cards into a hat are dwindling away because now crowds are eager for more impossible feats, like performers who can literally fly and levitate freely around the stage -- and that's just the beginning. You might say the start of this age of impossible magic tricks started with the world-famous David Copperfield.
The Breakthrough of Legendary Magician David Copperfield
After studying magic from childhood and even teaching it at New York University, David Copperfield began playing a magician in the Chicago musical called The Magic Man. From there, he caught the eyes of the ABC network's producers and got his big break; he starred in a TV variety show called The Magic of ABC in 1977. The show was so popular that it won Copperfield a contract with CBS for making the series known as The Magic of David Copperfield, which began in 1978 and continued until 1995, and the rest is history. After winning more than 20 Emmy Awards for his exceptional showmanship, he has become the most famous magician of the 20th century.
Where Does David Copperfield Perform?
This master of illusion who made the Statue of Liberty disappear now performs regularly at his own David Copperfield Theatre in Las Vegas. Located within the MGM Grand Casino Resort on South Las Vegas Boulevard, this venue has a total of only 17 rows arranged in a semicircle fashion to allow great views from every angle.
