Jose Gonzalez Biography - Third Coming for Gothenberg's Finest

Hailing from Gothenburg, this singer-songwriter's parents fled the militia in Argentina before he was born in Sweden in 1978. Brought up on a diet of Latin folk and pop, as well as Bob Marley, be played in a punk band before moving into hardcore with the group Renascence, in 1993. After a sting in the rock band Only if You Call Me Jonathan, he went solo in 2003, signing to Imperial Records and releasing his debut solo album, Veneer. He made the album while studying for a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Gothenburg, but gave up studies to play music full-time. His incredible covers of songs by Joy Division, The Knife and Bruce Springsteen helped his star rise, with his second album In our Nature making him a household name in 2007.
