James Blake Biography - Emotive Electro Vocalist
Born in London in 1988, Litherland's R&B sampling first got him noticed, and his quirky 12" 'Air & Lack Thereof' soon appeared on Hemlock Recordings. 2010 proved the breakthrough year for him though, with independent releases The Bells Sketch, CMYK and Klavierwerke helping to raise his profile. His self-titled debut finally arrived in 2011, and that truly catapulted him into the mainstream media spotlight.
After bringing out EPs Enough Thunder and Love What Happened Here to keep his fans happy, sophomore record Overgrown - and claimed the Mercury Prize that eluded him with his debut. What's more, lead single 'Retrograde' claimed the Ivor Novello award for Best Contemporary Song, granting further recognition for a prodigious composing talent. Litherland's intoxicating blend of falsetto vocals and piano-led ballads have made him one of the most sought-after producers and performers around. 2016 brought his return with third album The Colour in Anything, and he tours it live across the world over the coming months.
