Though former FC Twente players Claus Nielsen, Bryan Ruiz and Hakim Ziyech were among many others to make a name for themselves on the team, it was Swiss striker Blaise Nkufo who was crowned all-time top scorer of the club with a record 114 goals over six seasons. Nkufo's final season coincided with the introduction of an exciting new FC Twente manager, England's Steve McClaren, who proudly led the team to their first ever win of the Eredivisie in 2009-10. This set off a streak of successes that included the KNVB Beker in 2010-11 and two consecutive Johan Cruijff Schaals in 2010 and 2011.
