Young and talented Irish singer-songwriter Eden has been taking the world by storm since 2015. His sound has moved gradually from electronic dance music to indie pop, with which he has delighted audiences across the world at festivals and on tour. Eden: from electronic dance to indie pop

Eden - who is actually called Jonathan Ng - cites the beginning of his musical career as when he began learning classical violin and simultaneously writing his own songs at the age of seven. He is a self-taught drummer, pianist, guitarist and singer, and began releasing his own music in 2013, aged just eighteen. Thanks to promotion networks and social media, the young Chinese-Irish Eden (who has also occasionally worked as a model) rapidly gained popularity, particularly with young fans. His original tracks were based on electronic dance music, with drum and bass and dubstep featuring heavily, and he referred to himself as 'The Eden Project'. 2015, however, saw a major change - his alias was shortened to simply 'Eden' and he moved into indie and alternative pop, gaining legions of additional fans and gradually settling into his trademark look and style of singing. These days, Eden's music has a raw quality to it - he is not shy of admitting that the songs were written in his bedroom, and the twisting lyrics and chopped-up pop sounds certainly reflect this. Although he had released a couple of EPs previously, Eden's first studio album, 'Vertigo', was released in January 2018 along with the announcement of his first world tour. The music video for the track was extremely popular, though not as unusual as that of a previous single, 'drugs', which included a virtual reality experience and was a major hit on social media. Joined on his first world tour by American artist Verite, Eden has also received praise from Lorde and collaborated with US singer and rapper Gnash, often finding himself compared to artists such as Crywolf or Blackbear. That said, Eden's music is definitely a unique sound, best experienced without comparison to anyone who has come before.
