ABC Biography - Sensational Synth-pop Band

The brainchild of former fanzine writer Martin Fry, this iconic band formed in Sheffield's fertile electro scene in the early '80s. Emerging at the same time as the likes of Human League and Heaven 17, they were soon wowing local crowds and crashing the Top 20 with their debut single 'Tears are Not Enough'. Helmed by legendary producer Trevor Horn, their debut album The Lexicon of Love hit Number One, beginning a run of success which saw their sophisticated synth-pop become one of the decade's defining soundtracks. After scoring gold sales of sophomore effort Beauty Stab and continuing to wow critics with 1985's How to Be a¿ Zillionaire, they returned to the Top 10 with 1987's Alphabet City.

After numerous comebacks, including the release of Skyscraping in 1997 and a spot on VH1's Bands Reunited in 2004, the band are now firmly back on the scene after a successful appearance at 2013's 80s Rewind event.
