Opening in 1993, The Garage quickly became an established venue for rock and indie fans to watch their favourite acts. Many bands began to view playing The Garage as a rite of passage, a stage in the capital that meant you were something in the industry. With a capacity of 600 as well as an upstairs room, called Thousand Island, it takes a dedicated fanbase to fill! The Garage has seen some of the best grace its dressing rooms, including Jack White, Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chili Peppers as they ventured the road to worldwide superstardom. It also hosted the 25th anniversary show of War Child, the non-governmental organisation assisting children living in areas of conflict and after conflict. From indie to hip-hop to dance floor classics

The building that would become The Garage was originally the Temperance Billiard Hall, a common meeting place for the notorious Highbury Mob and other local scoundrels and criminals during the sixties. It then became a live music events space for the first time, known as the London Town and Country Club 2, a spin off to the Kentish Town venue that would eventually be The Forum. By 1993, the building was renamed The Garage after Lex Garage, an auto repair shop next door. Sheffield Brit Pop outfit Pulp, fronted by Jarvis Cocker, were the first big band to perform at the new venue and since then the organisation has branched into a variety of musical genres, with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez leading the hip hop charge, and DJ Jax Jones bringing electronica into the mix.
