Sigrid: Norwegian star embarks on biggest tour yet with seven UK dates in March 2018
Widely regarded as one of the most promising songwriters in the music industry, Norwegian singer Sigrid has been coverted by record companies around the world since her musical debut aged 17 in 2013. Her non-album debut singles "Sun" (which she performed on Norwegian national television), "Two Fish" and "Known You Forever" saw her quickly gather a following in her native Norway before the lead single from her debut album of the same "Don't Kill My Vibe" was an international success in 2017.
Still only 21, Sigrid is already renowned as an accomplished live performer; wowing crowds at both Lollapalooza and Reading and Leeds Festival in 2017, while her majestic performance on Glastonbury's Park Stage led The Guardian newspaper to suggest that she may be worthy of headlining the festival in future years.
Fresh off the back of those successes, Sigrid has announced her biggest headline tour yet in the spring of 2018. She will play seven shows around the UK and Ireland throughout March, including stops in London, Manchester and Birmingham. Sigrid: Scandinavian pop singer is a star in the making
Sigrid Solbakk Raabe, better known as just Sigrid, was born into a musical family in the small Norwegian town of Alesund. She learned to play the piano, guitar, and began song-writing at an early age. Largely influenced to write music by her brother Tellef Raabe, Sigrid also wrote and performed a song at one of the indie crooner's concerts.
At the age of 16 she signed to Norwegian label Petroleum, and later gained a slot at the country's famous Øyafestivalen festival. A single listen to "Don't Kill My Vibe" on Spotify got international record label Island so excited they got on a plane to Norway the next day, with Sigrid signing shortly after and officially releasing her debut single in 2017.
"Don't Kill My Vibe" was widely praised for its soft piano and melodic chorus, the song charted in Norway, Australia, Scotland, and the United Kingdom and was a huge international hit; racking up over 5 million listens in the first week and being listed on BBC Radio 1 DJ MistaJam's Hottest Record in The World list.
