There is, however, one man who makes it all work; captain Bram van Polen. PEC Zwolle: A tale of turmoil and tenacity

The existence of the club can be traced back to 1910, but it was not until 1955 that the original incarnation of the club (simply as 'PEC') turned professional. Just fifteen years later, the club would be forced to merge with local rivals, Zwolsche Boys. This was only temporary, as two instances of bankruptcy in 1982 and 1990 saw the club disband and reform as FC Zwolle. It would be another twelve years before Zwolle tasted top-flight action. In 2008, the club moved to their current stadium, with none other than Bram van Polen scoring the very first goal of a new era.
