After impressing at intensive auditions run by music mogul Maurice Starr, the members of this legendary pop act came together in the mid-'80s, built around slick singer Donnie Wahlberg, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre. Although not an instant success, they scored breakthrough success with their second LP Hangin' Tough and lead track 'Please Don't Go Girl', which rocketed into the US Top 10 off the back of huge radio play. This began a huge run of success, which saw them become the first teen group to score five Top 10 hits from the same LP and win multiple American Music Awards and Grammy nominations.
As they entered the '90s, the band became a truly international phenomenon, crashing the UK Top 10 and hitting Number One in Japan. Riding the wave of success with songs such as 'Let's Try It Again' and 'Call It What You Want', they eventually disbanded following the release of 1994's Face the Music after a decade at the top. However, their lasting legacy ensured a comeback was always on the cards - and they returned in 2008 for a reunion tour and album.
