Tickets & Tour Information For LTJ Bukem
LTJ Bukem Tickets
Widely regarded as one of the greatest innovators in the history of dance music, LTJ Bukem has been surprising club audiences since the early 90s. This mad genius still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, so get ready to break a sweat.
Schedule
In between a string of European dates over the summer, including a leading spot at the Soundwave Festival in Croatia, LTJ Bukem tickets are available for select shows in UK venues. Catch him performing headline sets live at Lakota in Bristol, Village Underground in London and The Fleece in Bristol. If you're in Ireland, you can also see him spinning at Twisted Pepper in Dublin.
Trivia
Danny Williamson is a man who goes by many names. For a long time, he gigged under the name Bukem, which is based on the famous catchphrase of TV show "Hawaii Five-O": "Book 'em, Danno." LTJ got added to his name some time in the mid-90s, and is intended as a phonetic spelling of "el dee-jay." It has nothing to do with that other cheesy cop show, TJ Hooker, as has been suggested by some. He also trades under other nicknames, including The Bookworm, which he often uses on remixes.
DJ
Whatever you call him, LTJ Bukem has been pushing for dance music to become more sophisticated since the early days of raving in 1990. He quickly became one of the most sought-after DJs and producers in Britain, helping to develop the nascent scene into a respectable genre. Along with Goldie and Roni Size, he's credited with inventing drum'n'bass music. His work at club nights like Speed helped to establish him as one of the most important figures on the London scene.
Breakthrough
LTJ Bukem has always tried his best to stick to the guiding principle of early dance music: the DJ should be in the background, and the music should be the star. He avoided large-scale singles and big PR campaigns, and instead focused on creating select 12" mixes that became an essential part of any DJ's collection. Nineties records such as "Logical Progressions," "Atlantis" and especially "Horizons" dominated the club scene in the first half of the decade, helping to form the basis for modern dance music and intelligent clubbing.
Hit Albums
Much of LTJ Bukem's energy over the last 20 years has gone into running his two record labels: Good Looking Records and Looking Good Records. Between them, he has overseen several hundred releases, including work by Photek, Seba, Blue Mar Ten, Future Engineers, Teenipeen, Source Direct and Sum Guy. In 2000, he finally got around to releasing an album of his own. The double-album "Journey Inwards" was a revelation, leaning more towards a jazz fusion sound than his previous club work, and proved to be a massive critical success.
Show Experience
When you buy LTJ Bukem tickets, you are in for the greatest club night of your life. This is a guy who has DJed everywhere: muddy fields in the Summer of Love, warehouse clubs in decadent 90s London during the explosion of jungle and drum'n'bass, at European festivals and at modern EDM venues in the US. He's seen it all, and if there's one thing he knows how to do, it's how to get a crowd dancing. His modern work might be jazzy and thoughtful, but he still mixes like a demon and can read a crowd like no other DJ. Be prepared to sweat.
