Lamb of God Biography - A 'Resolution' to Rock
This Virginia-based band first started rocking out under the name Burn the Priest in the 1990s, when the members first met at university and began practicing music to stay warm on chilly nights. They soon became a staple live act on the tight-knit Richmond music scene and began practising five days a week, a ritual they continue to fulfil today. The band released an eponymous album before deciding to change their name to something less blasphemous after signing a deal with Prosthetic Records in 2000.
After three years of exhaustive touring, the band released their timeless metal record As The Palaces Burn in 2003, which won record of the year from niche music titles like Revolver and Metal Hammer while also attracting the praise and attention of mainstream magazines like Rolling Stone. After headlining MTV's Headbangers Ball, the band was cemented as one of rock's most important acts. Since making their major label debut with 2004's Ashes of the Wake, now considered one of the finest groove metal albums of all time, they've continued to delight fans and critics with an unbroken stream of great LPs.
