Glasgow Summer Sessions 2018: Kendrick Lamar tops the bill

Set in the historic surroundings of Bellahouston Park, Glasgow Summer Sessions is one of Scotland's biggest annual festivals. Since its inaugural year in 2013, the event has attracted up to 100,000 festival goers to Glasgow every August with lineups that have included some of the biggest names in music.

Avicii, Eminem and Kings of Leon all played in 2013, with French, DJ David Guetta & Las Vegas rockers The Killers headlining 2014's festival. Scottish artists Paolo Nutini and Calvin Harris played to partizan home crowds in 2015, with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and another Scottish band, Biffy Clyro, entertaining sell out crowds in 2016. Eminem headlined for the second time in 2017, while Run The Jewels and rapper Russ also performed.

Glasgow Summer Sessions: huge summer of live music in Scotland

Glasgow is gearing up for another exciting year of live music in 2018 following a series of big festival announcements. First Aid Kit, Van Morrison, Bryan Ferry and Fleet Foxes are among the headliners at this year's Glasgow Summer Nights, while Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics and Liam Gallagher will headline TRNSMT festival across two weekends at Glasgow Green in June and July this summer.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of Summer Sessions organiser DF Concerts, said: "We are really excited to announce Kendrick Lamar as the first Glasgow Summer Sessions headliner for 2018.

"Following in the footsteps of Eminem, Biffy Clyro, and Calvin Harris, to name a few acts who have previously played Glasgow Summer Sessions, Kendrick is well and truly at the top of his game after an outstanding show at the SSE Hydro at the weekend and we can’t wait to welcome him back to the city in August.

"Glasgow will be buzzing this summer with TRNSMT and now Glasgow Summer Sessions taking centre stage, truly placing the city as a hub for the biggest artists in the world right now."
