Bursting onto the music scene in 2007, Florence and the Machine's starling music offering drew comparisons to legendary acts including Kate Bush and Siouxsie Sioux. Once described by Rolling Stone Magazine as "classic soul and midnight-on-the-moors English art rock", the band made a real impression with their debut single 'Kiss with a Fist', following up with the elevating indie anthem 'Dog Days A Over', which went on to appear in everything from Gossip Girl to Glee.
Their genre-bending blend of rock, soul, folk and baroque pop helped propel their debut album Lungs to number one in the UK charts - the record is now certified five times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. Welsh covered the iconic 1986 dance hit 'You've Got the Love' to a barrage of critical acclaim in 2008, proving her ability to lend her magical voice to a myriad of styles.
