Born Béatrice Martin in Montreal, Quebec, the young singer-songwriter started her career with an education at Montreal’s conservatoire and first performances as the keyboardist for band December Strikes First. After appearing with the band Bonjour Brumaire, Martin began to release songs on MySpace under the stage name ‘Coeur de Pirate’. Her debut album Coeur de Pirate was released in autumn 2008 after a stunning amount of online attention, which launched her solo career. Further albums Blonde, Roses and En cas de tempête, ce jardin cera fermé followed, together with soundtracks for Canadian TV series Trauma and video game Child of Light.
