China Crisis Tickets
The Smooth Sounds of China Crisis
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, there was a rise in affection for the synthesiser and drum machine, due in part to the fact that they were new pieces of technology in the world of music. This spurned a whole new movement of pop bands that dominated much of the '80s era. Out of this group came a klatch of bands from Liverpool, which included the Flock of Seagulls, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and China Crisis.
Schedule
During the 1980s and into the mid-1990s, China Crisis toured around the world in large and small venues. While they faded away for more than a decade, the band began to sporadically reunite in the late 2000s, beginning to tour extensively in 2012. Currently, China Crisis is on an extensive tour through Europe, but primarily in the United Kingdom. They will be playing dates at venues like The Met in Bury, The Robin in Wolverhampton, Jazz on the Margin in London, South Arts Centre in Devon, The Greystones in Sheffield and The Flowerpot in Derby. In the UK, China Crisis tickets will be in high demand.
Trivia
For their third album, China Crisis hired Walter Becker, from the legendary band Steely Dan, to help them produce. Becker had to leave his expecting partner in Hawaii to work with the band in London, but returned as soon as the album was finished, never formally appearing with the band at any point in public. However, the album rose to number 9 on the United Kingdom charts in 1985 and Becker was listed as a member of China Crisis, as they were so honoured to have worked with him.
Band
Lead vocalist and guitarist Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon formed the band in Liverpool in 1979. They were amongst the likes of OMD, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, A Flock of Seagulls and Frankie Goes to Hollywood at the time, all of whom had success in the United Kingdom and the United States. Currently China Crisis has five members, with founders Daly and Lundon still with the band.
Breakthrough
The second single off their debut album from Virgin Records, Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms, Some People Think It's Fun to Entertain, was "Christian," which rose to number 12 in the UK, bringing them national attention in their home country with an album that climbed to number 21 on the charts. This led to the band touring and supporting Simple Minds.
Hit Albums
China Crisis has released seven studio albums to date, five of which were in the Eighties, when the group was at the height of its popularity. Their first two albums charted in the top 25 in the United Kingdom and were certified either silver or gold. Their third album "Flaunt the Imperfection" rose to number 9 in the UK and charted at 171 in the United States, also reaching gold status in the United Kingdom. While no other album was as successful as this third one, their fourth studio album "What Price is Paradise" rose to 114 in the United States, while reaching number 68 in the United Kingdom.
Show Experience
With classical instruments mixed into guitar and drums, China Crisis is light rock with elements of pop mixed into their romantic sound. Their shows have an upbeat atmosphere while remaining relaxed, meant for an audience who has appreciated them since their glory days all the way up to the present. Expect to sit back, sing along, and enjoy.
