Growing up on the great soul divas

Celeste was actually born in the USA, although her mother was from Essex. Her musical roots come from her Jamaican father, though she didn't choose reggae as her musical path. Instead from an early age she was a fan of the classic soul divas like Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin, moving on to discover other favourite artists like Sun Ra and Thelonious Monk as she grew older. This also gave her a love of jazz, another flavour that she sometimes explores in her R&B music.
