Career with Wolfsbane and Iron Maiden

Some say he's the best heavy metal singer ever. Others disagree. One thing's for sure, this guy can belt out a song… with fury! Born in Birmingham in 1963, Bayley made a name for himself as the lead singer of Wolfsbane, which formed in 1984. They built a strong following of committed metal fans who remained loyal when the band was dropped from their label for not selling well enough, despite supporting Iron Maiden on the UK stretch of their 1990 No Prayer on the Road tour. Wolfsbane continued to release music and were eventually picked up by the independent London label Bronze Company, who were also responsible, at one time, for the likes of Uriah Heep, Motörhead and The Damned. Change came after the departure of Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and Bayley was chosen over hundreds of others in the hunt for a new singer. Wolfsbane disbanded, allowing Bayley to focus on Iron Maiden. He was a part of two albums with the band, The X Factor (1995) and Virtual XI (1998), until his time with Maiden came to an end as Bruce Dickinson returned. A successful solo career

After leaving Iron Maiden, Bayley formed BLAZE (1999-2007) and the Blaze Bayley Band (2007-2011), through which a number of successful and well received albums were released. Due to financial and logistical reasons, Bayley had to part ways with the projects and embarked on a solo career, working with different musicians in the studio and in live performances. Touring Canada, Europe, North and Latin America as well as hitting up rock festivals like Download, it's safe to say he's still got it. Recent releases such as Eating Lies and Escape Velocity show that Blaze Bayley's passion for metal is as pure as ever, and his live concerts prove that this is a voice to be treasured.
