Alexisonfire Biography - Burning Bright For A Decade
The band formed in 2001 following the break-up of various groups in the Ontario province of Canada. Taking their name from Alexis Fire, an adult film star, they released their self-titled debut album in 2002, which would eventually go gold in their native country. As with many artists in the hard rock scene, their rise to prominence came off the back of near constant touring, including jaunts with leading lights such as Glassjaw and Billy Talent.
The following years saw the five-piece build their audience steadily with each album release, while also playing heralded slots at UK festivals such as Download and Reading and Leeds Festival. However, 2011 would see the band come full circle, with the members' focus on other projects cited as the principle reason for their decision to break up. After a short hiatus, guitarist Dallas Green announced the band would play a handful of final gigs to allow fans to say goodbye, nine highly-anticipated dates in their homeland, the UK, Australia and Brazil.
