The Growlers Tickets
With a sound so unique the band had to discover an entire new genre of music, The Growlers are an extremely D.I.Y. band known for working very fast, sometimes going from writing to producing and recording an album in as little as five weeks. People holding The Growlers tickets will be treated to music that's a unique mix of country, surf, pop, and rock that the band has coined beach-goth.
The Growlers plan to play in several locations throughout France, before heading to the U.K. to play in London's own Oval Space and Bristol's Thekla before heading overseas to play in Yokohama and Tokyo. After a short break, the band plans to tour the U.S. before heading north to Canada, Ireland, and Norway.
The Growlers' back story may sound like the plot of a cliche' buddy-comedy film, but their homespun approach to music brings out the soul of the sound they're going for. Originally the band began as a small group of friends were working as cactus farmers and enjoying music in their spare time, when a friend recruited them at the last minute to play at a house party he was hosting. Lead Guitarist Matt Taylor and Lead Singer Brooks Nielson hammered out six songs in a single afternoon before heading out to play the show. . . and The Growlers were born.
Although the Growlers have gone through multiple personnel changes since their inception, the core of the band remains the same, forming around lead singer Brooks Nielsen, who is also the band's lyricist, and lead guitarist Matt Taylor. Each of the other members of the band, Scott Montoya on drums, Anthony Perry on bass, and Kyle Stratka on keyboards and guitar, add their own special mixture to each song, often writing their own parts around Matt's melody and Brooks' lyrics.
The Growlers' breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of their album Hung at Heart. Their lead single 'Someday' became an infectious pop hit, featuring lyrics about the Growlers' hope to make through the hard times and reach for that magical day when it all goes right.
The Growlers' first large scale hit album was 2013's Hung at Heart, the first of the Growlers' albums to start topping the charts. A year later, the Growlers fully arrived on the scene with the album Chinese Fountain winning 4 awards, including Top Independent Album and Billboard 200.
When it comes to shows, the Growlers stay true to their roots, often playing in as many side venues as they do main stages. Even their largest concerts carry along the feeling of a late night bonfire burning on a Southern California beach near the band's home of Costa Mesa, California. The laid back and relaxed atmosphere encourages everyone to indulge in the music without pretense, while the band plays with a variety of theatrical make-up, wigs, props, and other toys, keeping the feeling of the event carefree and as casual as a backyard get together."
