Silverstein Biography - Prolific Punk Rockers

This Ontario-based rock outfit formed in 2000 and decided to name the band after the prolific American children's author and poet, whose work had a profound influence on all the original five members in their early years. Their debut album When Broken Is Easily Fixed became a smash hit with alternative crowds in2003, selling over 200,000 copies. They created a unique sound mixing elements of emo music with sounds inspired by hardcore and melodic heavy metal, attracting the attention of prolific American producer Cameron Webb, who helmed their breakthrough second record Discovering the Waterfront in 2005.

Over the years the outfit also pulled in punk influences and worked with multi-platinum music producer Mark Trombino, who has worked with the likes of Blink-182 and Jimmy Eat World. Their music continues to evolve and change and despite several line-up changes the band has gone from strength to strength in recent years and retains eternal popularity with their devoted fan base.
