John Dwyer first began performing under the name of 'Orinoka Crash Suite' in 1997 as an outlet for his studio experiments. Still performing as main vocalist in three other acts at the same time, it took until 2003 before he was ready to release debut full-length double album 1. Brigid Dawson would often see Dwyer put up flyers for his shows in the coffee shop where she was working, and after seeing her perform he asked the barista to join his band. Once further members had been added to the line-up, the group released The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In in 2008 under their current name.
