London Grammar tour: dream pop trio head out on UK tour this October after topping charts with second album
With their brand of understated, ballad-heavy electronic pop London Grammar have taken the UK charts by storm since their musical debut in 2013. Both If You Wait and Truth Is a Beautiful Thing (2017) have been huge album chart successes, while singles such as "Strong" and "Wasted My Young Years" were commerical radio hits.
Perhaps best known for their melodic and ambient live shows, the band have been gracing festivals around Europe and the wider world throughout 2017 and – much to the joy of UK fans – will return home this autumn for a tour of the British Isles.
The band will play 12 shows around the UK and Ireland throughout October and into November, including Manchester, London and Birmingham. They'll also stop at: Newcastle, Bristol, Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin – meaning fans up and down the country (and both sides of the Irish Sea) will have a chance to see London Grammar live. London Grammar: melodic group continue on journey to pop greatness
Having met as students at the University of Nottingham in 2009, London Grammar (made up of vocalist Hannah Reid, guitarist Dan Rothman and multi-instrumentalist Dot Major) developed an underground following, with their early shows at small venues now the thing of legend across the city. Their talents were plain to see; with delicate compositions, soaring vocals and underplayed electronic-tendencies, all evident in their Ministry of Sound released EP Metal & Dust.
However, it would be through a collaboration that they really grabbed the attention of the mainstream, as they featured on arguably the standout track from Disclosure's massive album Settle, “Help Me Lose My Mind”. The band recorded two live sessions for Radio 1, and played ten summer 2013 European music festivals before unleashing their stylish debut album – and one of the year's top releases – If You Wait in September 2013. Peaking at number two on the UK album charts, the release helped cement the trio as one of the nation's favourite musical acts, and with a thrilling Glastonbury performance following soon after, London Grammar were propelled to stardom.
They released another two remix albums in 2014, before teasing out their new single "Rooting For You" on New Years Day 2017. A month later, they shared the second single "Big Picture" via their Facebook page and performed it on Later with Jools Holland before releasing the much anticipated Truth Is a Beautiful Thing in June 2017. The album was the band's first UK number one, and a huge UK tour is set to follow.
