Lehigh Valley IronPigs TicketsThe roots of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs can be traced back to Canada. The Ottawa Lynx was the Triple-A affiliate of the Montreal Expos, who later became the Washington Nationals. The Lynx won the International League Championship in 1995. The Baltimore Orioles took over the Lynx when the Expos ceased operations, but it didn't have much of a following in Canada. The Lynx became an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2007 and moved to Allentown, Penn., in 2008. The name of the team was changed to the IronPigs as a nod to the iron mills that were so prevalent in Lehigh Valley during the American Industrial Revolution. The first few seasons in Allentown were a struggle, and the team didn't finish above .500 until 2011. That season, former manager and MLB Hall of Fame second baseman, Ryne Sandberg, guided the IronPigs to its first winning season since arriving in Pennsylvania.
