Jess Glynne biography
Passionate about singing from a young age, Jess Glynne auditioned for TV talent show The X Factor at the age of just 15, but the fiercely independent star dropped out in the early stages following a disagreement with producers. This wasn't to hold her back however. Glynne returned to school and began working for a music management company, where she was exposed to a wide network of producers and songwriters.
On completing a course at the British Academy of New Music, she met future collaborators Jin Jin and Bless Beats who would go on to feature heavily in her debut record. She caught the attention of Atlantic Records and was signed in summer 2013. During that time she was also approached by deep house producer Route 94, who she would later collaborate with on number one hit "My Love". A successful second collaboration with Clean Bandit on "Rather Be" landed the singer her second number one hit and a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
Jess Glynne: throat surgery and comeback
Glynne dropped her first solo single "Right Here" in 2014 – following it up with a UK tour and multiple festival appearances, including Glastonbury, Wireless and Bestival. Her second single – "Hold My Hand" – stayed at the number one spot for three weeks after its release in March 2015, before the singer took a break following surgery on her vocal chords.
She returned in September to support the release of her debut album I Cry When I Laugh – appearing as a guest mentor on The X Factor, supporting Children in Need with the single "Take Me Home" and completing a sell-out, UK-wide tour of the same name in November and December 2016.
Jess Glynne has already enjoyed massive success in the UK, becoming only the second British female solo artist after Cheryl to have five number one hits, and it’s safe to say her star will continue to rise. Grab Jess Glynne tickets at StubHub UK to hear all your favourite hits live.
