Funeral for a Friend Biography - Leaders in the Post-Hardcore Genre

2003 saw Michael Davies-Kreye, Kris Coombs-Roberts, Gavin Burrough and Richard Boucher burst onto the scene with ground breaking album Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation, setting a standard in the alternative/post-hardcore genre for years to come. They won the Kerrang! Best British Newcomer award and headlined the second stage at both Reading and Leeds festivals. The awards kept coming with second album Hours in 2005, and at that year's Kerrang! Awards, the band this time claimed the coveted Best British Band gong. Hours was innovative in its use of unusual recording techniques, such as vocals captured on a crowded city street.

2007 marked the release of Tales Don't Tell Themselves , which quickly became their highest charting album at number 3 in the UK, and a limited tour to support the LP saw them perform to their most dedicated fans in intimate venues across the UK. Line-up changes and the Memory and Humanity record arrived in the following years, before the band decided to part from record label Atlantic and release fifth album Welcome Home Armageddon independently, earning acclaim from critics and their avid supporters. Their next two albums displayed a return to the post-hardcore sound of the early days, with Chapter and Verse proving particularly popular with long-standing fans. In September 2015, the band announced they would split after nearly 15 years together, playing one final tour to say goodbye. There will be two nights in each venue for each of the Last Chance to Dance dates, with the first dedicated to their debut album and second in tribute to their sophomore effort.
