This luminary vocalist was born in Hong Kong but enjoyed an international upbringing, moving to England at the age of 12 to gain a world-class education. He studied architecture at Kingston University but his academic career was brought to a halt when he returned to Hong Kong in 1995 to enter the 'New Singing Talent Awards' - where he won first place. He was snapped up by Capital Artists and released his eponymous debut album a year later. He has gone on to release numerous studio albums - including his 2013 release The Key - which have made him one of Hong Kong's highest selling singers. His 2005 album U87, which he named after his favourite microphone, is recommended by Time Magazine as one of the 'Five Best Asian Albums'.
This versatile musician is also an instrumentalist with exceptional skill on the piano, guitar and violin. He often showcases his wide-ranging musical prowess in his live performances - including five major theme concerts at the colossal Hong Kong Coliseum from 1999. His awards cabinet is well stocked and he is one of the only non-Taiwanese singers to win the Golden Melody Awards, taking home prizes in categories like 'Best Male Singer' and 'Best Album'.
