They soon broke free along, enjoying huge success with their 1972 self-titled debut album, before they leaned more towards rock than country in the mid-1970s and breaking through with their stunning album One of These Nights. However the band, led by Don Hendley, found even more success with their seminal Hotel California album, with the titular song becoming their trademark hit.
Having dipped in and out of the game since the 1980s, the band delighted fans by returning in 2013 for a proper touring stint that they have said could last two years.
