Dara O'Briain Biography - Physicist Turned TV Presenter and Comedian
After graduating from University College Dublin with a degree in mathematics and theoretical physics, few would have expected the career path that unfolded for this talented Irishman. His fluency in Gaelic and English helped him to land a job as children's television presenter for RT�, but he had started to try out stand-up material in the evening at clubs across the country, and comedy quickly became his true love. His sets improved with the regular practice in front of small audiences, and attendances grew rapidly.
By 2003, he was fronting multiple shows on Irish television, and a brilliant guest appearance on BBC show Have I Got News For You earned him his breakthrough in the UK. His presence on British television quickly grew, and when the BBC commissioned another panel show called Mock the Week, the Irishman was asked to host. He has performed the role for over a decade, and tours his live act to massive audiences all over the country.
